The humid subtropical climate makes the unbeatable courses a dream golf destination.

Riverfront Golf Club

The renowned golf course architect Tom Doak has turned the banks of Nansemond River into a haven of golf holes- the Riverfront Golf Club. The course winds through the huge oaks and pines, tidal marshes, and the vast rolling farmland that provides an amazing setting for spectacular rounds of play. The layout was cited as one of the “40 best Daily Fee Courses” by Golf and Travel Magazine.

Heron Ridge Golf Club

The Heron Ridge Golf Club features the 14 holes with lakes, the water hazards, uncommon elevation changes, and the natural wetland winds. The 5 sets of tees that range from 5,000 yards all the way up to 7,000 yards challenges every golfer with any skill level. This golf facility was designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates and opened in the spring of 1999.

Red Wing Lake Golf Club

The Red Wing Lake Golf Club is a classical public course that features tree lined and generous fairways. The layout underwent a series of renovation with George W. Cobb and is now operating with improved drainage and shaped greens seeded with Bent grass. Additional water hazards were placed to come up with more challenging yet exciting rounds of pure golf.

This course is the latest masterpiece by Arnold Palmer Course Design. The par 72, 7,010 yards Signature at West Neck features the maintained Tifsport Bermuda fairways and tees with the smooth A-4 bent grass greens. This timeless classic championship course lies in the wonderfully landscaped terrain with thirteen lakes, natural wetlands and the stone walled bulkheads fronting the 11th and 18th greens. Sleepy Hole Golf Course

The Sleepy Hole Golf Course nestled along the shores of Nansemond River has hosted several LPGA Tour events and a venue for prestigious amateur tournaments. The water hazards on five holes, playable tree-lined fairways, well placed bunkers, and the immaculate greens are what make this course a newly polished gem. It was built in 1972 with Russel Breeden as the designer and was later renovated by architect Tom Clark.

Virginia Beach National Golf Club

In 1999, a premier golf course in the Tidewater area has opened- the Virginia Beach National Golf Club. This course with the masterful blend of natural grasses was designed by Pete Dye assisted by the Hall Famer Curtis Strange. The par 72 layout stretches through over 7,200 yards of championship tees that goes along with the rolling fairways, waste areas, and the “tour quality” greens.

Bay Creek Resort & Club
