The 140-acre, 18-hole course features 419 fairways and TifEagle greens with multiple sets of tees created a challenging layout for golfers on any skill level. Designed by Roger Rulewich and Jim Hickey, the fast and undulating greens of the Carolina Lakes Golf Course opened in 1981. The course is not overly long but placing approach shots on the wrong side of the green or above the hole can make some interesting up and down shots. The well designed layout makes Carolina Lakes a playable course.
Nestled in an unspoiled natural beauty, the Cypress Lakes Golf Course has become one of the finest residential golf communities in North Carolina. The exquisite surroundings of the course have made it a personal favorite of Dr. W.T. Rainey, the co-founder of Highsmith-Rainey Hospital. Here, he was able to cultivate azaleas and camellias and even raised a turkey farm. Since then, the place was preserved by L.B. Floyd and A.N. Prewitt.
The course at Gates Four Golf and Country Club with the wooden bridges and winding streams and opened for play in 1967, was originally designed by Willard Byrd. It was later renovated by the famed golf course architect Dan F. Maples where a variety of tees was created to make the entire layout more challenging. The course features the unique blend of bent grass greens which provides optimum putting surfaces during play.
A classic golf experience winding through the beautiful cypress trees and majestic pines is what golf at the Kings Grant Golf Club is all about. Situated right in the heart of Fayetteville, the course has become a preference among the Fayetteville area golfers. For three consecutive years, King’s Grant was voted as the “Best Golf Course in Cumberland County.”
The Anderson Creek Golf Club was the first signature course design of Davis Love III, the 1997 PGA Championship winner. The traditional layout features the rolling emerald fairways lined with longleaf pines, the large roll-off areas of greens and the significant undulations has the glimpse of the classical Donald Ross design throughout the Sandhills of North Carolina. It was cited as the “Best New Course in North Carolina” for 2001 and received a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest.
With the 6,500 yards of play from the Ripper tees, Tobacco Road was rated as second highest in terms of slope in the Carolinas next to the famed Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. This Mark Strantz creation was currently rated among the nation’s best. The entire layout carves its way through an old sand quarry.
