The Charlotte Golf Links championship course is an 18-hole layout designed by Tom Doak in 1993. This par 71 course features the subtle rolling piedmont once the player bypasses the streams, ponds, and heathery rough. It was voted as Charlotte’s number one public course and still continues to set the standards for any public play. Amenities include the fully stocked pro shop, banquet and dining area, lighted driving range, and the chipping and putting green.
The rural setting of the Divide Golf Club made the course very accessible off I-485. This 18-hole course of traditional golf features the large undulating bent grass greens and the spacious Bermuda fairways that will challenge every golfer on any skill level. Areas for full practice, short game and putting green are also included. In 1997, the Divide Golf Club was voted as “Charlotte’s Best Golf Course” by Charlotte’s Best Magazine and still keeping on.
The scenic Tradition course which features the beautiful rolling terrain, testy dogleg configurations and the straightaway holes was cut out of the woods. Shots are made through the undulating bent grass greens with the tree-lined natural setting and numerous elevation changes. The course also provides a comfortable 5,400 square foot clubhouse and the large range and putting facility.
Nestled in dense hardwoods on a rolling terrain, the Waterford is considered as a true shot maker’s course. Designed by Senior PGA star Hale Irwin, this course molded by Mother Nature has now the classic design that receives rave reviews from both the local and national media as well as the golfers all over the Southeast. It also offers the driving range, large putting green, short game and the bunker area.
This 18-hole championship course in Charlotte is considered as the best and toughest golf layout in Charlotte. The Highland Creek Course winds through the towering trees and over the meandering creeks and was designed with extra care to preserve the natural beauty of the area. It also features the Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens. Guarding the course are five lakes, water features on 13 holes and 72 bunkers designed by Clifton and Ezell.
The Birkdale Golf Club is a public facility course designed by the famous Arnold Palmer that has the touch of a “private club” atmosphere. This par 72, 7,013 yard layout is located on the acres of rolling terrain and is made up of the Crenshaw bent grass greens with Bermuda fairways. It was named as Charlotte’s Best Public Course in 1998.
Considered as one of Charlotte’s best golf courses, the Skybrook Golf Course was designed by John LaFoy that opened for play in the summer of 2000. The beautiful rolling fairways with the incredible scenic views of the course are winding through the neighborhood of Skybrook. This par 72 course offers the six sets of tees, dramatic elevation changes and the generous landing areas.
The Ballantyne Resort Golf Course is nestled in the natural hills of Piedmont. This par 71, tree-lined course is among the finest PGA courses in the region. Just recently, the course was recognized by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler as one of the “Top 100 Golf Resort in North America and the Caribbean.” Aside from the layout, Ballantyne Resort also offers an upscale golf pro shop.
